The far reaches of the West Sonoma Coast brings in another exotic vintage of Syrah from the Sealift Vineyard. The ultra-late ripening Syrah crossed the finish line in October and blew our minds from the day it started fermenting. The wine today smells just like it did as it was bubbling away in tank: wild scents of black cherry, pouch tobacco, dried figs and blackberry, and on the palate, it is plush and compact with a medium body that makes this youthful, nimble wine a pure joy to drink in the short term, but this wine will only become more harmonized and powerful with time. Don’t be afraid to cellar for up to 10 years.
